You can suffer from pain and swelling of an injury even after taking number of precautions. Injuries can happen at any time and any place; while you are walking on road, lifting a heavy bag or working in kitchen.

Swelling occurs when your skin, organs and other body parts of the body enlarge as a result of fluid buildup.  It is one of the body’s inflammatory responses to injury. Swelling resulting from injury can be severely painful and require immediate action to avert further damage. Applying cold compress, Pain Relieving Oil and wrapping painful area with a Soft Crepe Bandage can help get relief from the discomfort of injury.

Here are some tips that are easy to use and also effective to relieve swelling and pain due to injury:

Rest :

For a fast relief from swelling and pain caused by injury, you need to rest injured area as much as possible. Proper rest is necessary for repairing soft tissue damage that results due to minor injuries. More pressure on the injured area will cause more swelling, pain and late healing.


If you have an injured foot or knee, you can also apply a Pain Reliving Ointment while resting. Any body part which is swollen you need to put in rest; do not put the pressure of work on that portion as condition may aggravate.

Cold Compress :

In the first 72 of injury, applying a cold compress is one of the best ways to minimize swelling. Cold therapy reduces the flow of blood in the injured area, as a result decreasing the accumulation of excess fluid and therefore, swelling and pain.


Moreover, it reduces muscle spasm and promotes fast recovery from the pain. It is a way that offers a numbing effect on the nerves, which in turns soothes the pain.

Simply wrap a few ice cubes in a thin towel. Now apply the pack on the affected area for 10 minutes. Repeat the process every 3 to 4 hours.

Caution: Do not apply ice directly on the affected area.

 Apple Cider Vinegar :

Apple cider vinegar is another effective remedy to reduce swelling on injured area. The anti-inflammatory and alkalizing properties along calcium, potassium and other vital minerals help in reducing pain and inflammation on the injured area.


Mix equal parts of raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar and water. Warm up the solution and then soak a towel in it. Wrap the wet towel around the painful area and keep it for 5 to 10 minutes. Repeat the process twice a day.

Alternatively, you can also mix 2 tablespoons of raw apple cider vinegar in a glass of warm and drink it by adding a little honey.

Epsom Salt Soak :

Epsom salt is a great remedy when it comes to reducing swelling and pain due to injury. Loaded with magnesium sulfate, Epsom Salt relaxes stressed muscles and improves blood circulation.


You can use Epsom salt after the 48 hours of the injury. Mix 2 tablespoons of Epsom Salt in a small tub filled with warm water and soak the affected area in it for 10 to 15 minutes. Repeat the same 3 times a week.

For larger injured areas such as shoulders, legs and back, you need to soak whole body in an Epsom salt bath. After this, you can apply an instant Pain Relief Spray and rest for a while.

Compression :

Compressing the injured area is another good way to decrease swelling. It is the way that provides stability and prevents fluid from accumulating in the affected area. To apply compression get an Ayurvedic crepe bandage and wrap it around the affected area.


Tie up the comfortable crepe bandage during the day until the swelling reduces and remove before you go to sleep.

Elevation :

Elevating the affected area, such as finger, hand, ankle and leg, above your chest level can help a lot decrease swelling. It is a way that improves blood circulation and results in relief from the discomfort associated with injury.

If your hand, knee, leg and fingers are swollen, you can sit on a sofa and rest your hands or knees on the top of the pillows.


Besides this, you can also apply the best Ayurvedic pain reliever oil such Dr. Ortho medicinal oil to get relief from the painful condition.
